MORNING PRAYER IN 2009-10

Note: Morning Prayer is held Monday through Friday during Chapel Break, 11:15 to 11:35 a.m., effective Aug. 25th, 2009.

Our Morning Prayer leaders for 2009-2010 are all students with the exception of Wednesdays (traditional Matins service) when students are part of the rotation of leaders. This year's leaders are: Brett Hartmann (Mondays), Mary Rockey (Tuesdays), Rachel Dahlgren and Jessica McCallum (Thursdays), and James Strasburg (Fridays).

Mondays for the first part of the year will be a contemporary Morning Prayer (Matins) service from Evangelical Lutheran Worship.

Tuesday mornings we hear from a variety of speakers with a homily of the day.

Wednesday morning we have our traditional Matins service.

Thursday mornings offer you a time to enjoy quiet contemplation around the cross, as our Taizé worship continues as part of our Morning Prayer schedule.Taizé worship is meditative worship. In Taizé worship, each piece is short and meant to be sung numerous times with the repetition allowing time for reflection and meditation. As with the Taizé service introduced last school year, our fall Taizé service is focused on time for prayer around the cross. You are encouraged to come to the cross at the designated time, to pray and light a candle if you wish.

Friday's morning prayer service offers music by our Praise Band, led by Grant Goeman, and there is usually a skit written by Cameron Overbey.
