FINANCE FACULTY POSITION
Position Description:The College of Business Administration (CBA) is seeking applicants for a tenure-track faculty position (rank is open) in finance beginning in the Fall of 2009. The primary teaching responsibilities of the position include finance courses at the undergraduate and graduate (M.B.A.) level.  Normal teaching load for CBA faculty is nine hours per semester with summer teaching available. Ideal candidates should have a Ph.D. or D.B.A. degree (ABD candidates considered) and evidence of quality teaching and academic research. Candidates should demonstrate a record of outstanding achievement and leadership, have good interpersonal skills, and be willing to work in a scholarly community committed to Christian higher education and the Lutheran tradition of scholarship, freedom, and faith. Tenure is based on the candidate demonstrating satisfactory teaching, research, and service.

The University and College:  Valparaiso University is a private, Lutheran university offering degrees in arts and sciences and four professional schools.  For the past several years the university has been named as one of the “Best Master’s Universities in the Midwest” and “One of the Best Buys” byU.S. News and World Report.  Enrollment is approximately 3,900 students in its Colleges of Business Administration, Arts & Sciences, Nursing, Engineering, Christ (honors) College, Graduate Division, and the School of Law. The College of Business Administration offers a B.S.B.A. degree, a B.S. in Accounting (150-hour program) degree, and an accounting specialization within its MBA degree.  The College of Business Administration is AACSB accredited and serves 450 undergraduate students with majors in accounting, finance, information & decision sciences, international business, management, and marketing.  In addition, the CBA has 75 MBA students and a newly launched master of engineering management program.

The University is located in Valparaiso, Indiana, U.S.A., a community of 30,000 residents, known for quality public school education and light industry.  Located in Northwest Indiana, it is 16 miles from Lake Michigan and its sandy beaches, and within an hour of downtown Chicago by train or automobile.
