From the very first night he marveled at the stars, physics and mathematics double-major Lane Scheel ’25 has been led by wonder and a love for discovery. His calling toward the cosmos has sent him across the country to Montana State University for research – then across the world to South Australia.
Grounded In Purpose, We Radiate Compassion
For senior nursing student Sam Gountounas ’25, compassion and care will always go hand-in-hand — in the classroom, on the soccer field, and when caring for every patient. Grounded in the values of our nationally ranked College of Nursing and Health Professions, Sam plans to use her bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) to fulfill a lifelong calling: pediatric nursing.
Valpo Alumni Pave the Way for Human Space Travel
Nicholas Skytland ’02 and David Baumann ’97, two mechanical engineering alumni, currently serve as the chief technologist and director of business development and the director of NASA’s Human Research Program respectively. This dynamic duo is currently working at the Johnson Space Center in Houston and both humbly look back at their time at Valpo as integral to their success.
